A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held at the site of a new senior living community in Fort Myers. Located at 18301 Trifecta Lane (just north of Luigina’s Pizza & Grill), Canterfield of Fort Myers will offer independent and assisted living as well as memory care. Developed and managed by Medical Development Corp (MDC), an Atlanta-based senior living development and management firm, the Canterfield brand offers cutting edge senior housing with a neighborhood concept, allowing residents to age in place with various levels of care available. GATES Construction has been selected as the Construction Manager and has begun building the first phase of the project. Phase 1 will feature a three-story, 115-unit apartment building for assisted living and memory care. Independent living units will be built in Phase 2 and be comprised of a second apartment building and six one-story duplex residences. A variety of on-site amenities will include a restaurant-style dining room, movie theater, arts and crafts room, fitness center, library, and a barber/beauty salon. Canterfield of Fort Myers is slated for completion for the fall of 2018. Currently, MDC owns and manages several existing communities throughout the Southeast U.S., and has multiple new properties under development.
