GATES Construction has been selected as the construction manager for the demolition and replacement of Marco Island Academy, a public charter high school located at 2255 San Marco Rd. on Marco Island. Designed by LDG Architects, the new 52,700 SF facility features a beautiful 2-story curved glass lobby. The school consists of a two-story wing with administrative offices and gymnasium, and a three-story classroom wing. The gymnasium includes a multi-use athletics space with basketball court, locker rooms, performing arts stage and classroom.  Manta Ray Hall, named after the school’s mascot, will offer a café and student lounge. The classroom wing will house 16 classrooms and science labs and a second story walk out terrace and green roof garden. Exterior elements, which will be completed in the project’s final stages, include an entry pavilion, athletics field with stadium bleachers and concession area, expanded parking, and bus loop. Naming opportunities are still available including options for the Arts, Athletics, and Academic donations.
