GATES Construction has started the expansion and renovation of The Dalton Discovery Center located at 1495 Smith Preserve Way on the Conservancy of Southwest Florida campus. The $4.5 million renovation and expansion of the Susan and William Dalton Discovery Center will combine new interactive exhibits, an Invasive Species Gallery, an Augmented Reality Endangered Species exhibit and a digital Climate Change Gallery. “Southwest Florida is an epicenter for the impacts of climate change, like sea-level rise and increased extreme weather.” said Heather Skaza Acosta, PH.D. Director of Environmental Education at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. “The Climate Change Gallery will connect our visitors to these impacts in ways that inspire them to personal and community action.” With architectural and design services provided by Parker/Mudgett/Smith Architects and exhibit designs from C7A, completion is slated for early 2021.
