This 29,000 FS “hardened” this facility was built to withstand a Category 5 storm surge and winds of up to 200 mph, and is able to function independently and maintain communications for up to seven days in the case of a natural disaster. It can accommodate 24 – 32 beds and includes a kitchen and dining area to provide residential functions for personnel. Elevated 23 feet above sea level, the facility features a reserve supply of potable water and generators, standard and redundant chillers with ice tanks, and state-of-the-art communications systems.
